Meet Dr. Daryl Chalifour
Anchorage Roots, Clinical Experience & a Commitment to Patient Care
Born and raised in South Anchorage, Dr. Daryl Chalifour has deep roots in the community he serves. Known to many patients simply as "Dr. Daryl," he has practiced chiropractic in Anchorage since 2009 and is the owner of Bilan Chiropractic.
Family, faith, health, and an active lifestyle have always been important parts of Dr. Chalifour's life. He and his wife, Emily, have been married for more than 20 years and are the proud parents of three children, Isla, Thad, and Essa. As a family, they enjoy Alaska's outdoors and are actively involved in the local sports community.
An Early Foundation in Patient Care & Rehabilitation
Dr. Chalifour began his education at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he completed his pre-medical studies while also completing a massage therapy program and becoming a licensed massage therapist. While attending UAA, he worked in a local healthcare office providing massage therapy and assisting with strengthening and rehabilitation services under the direction of a local doctor.
These early experiences gave Dr. Chalifour a hands-on foundation in anatomy, soft-tissue therapy, rehabilitation, and direct patient care well before he entered chiropractic school. They also helped shape the approach he continues to use today-considering how movement, strength, mobility, soft-tissue function, and previous injuries can contribute to the way a person feels and functions.
During this time, Dr. Chalifour was also deeply involved in competitive strength sports. In addition to competing in powerlifting and strongman, he traveled with the U.S. Women's World Powerlifting Association as an assistant coach, gaining experience working with competitive athletes at an international level.
Dr. Chalifour went on to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, graduating with honors. During his clinical training, he was nominated for Palmer's Clinical Excellence Award in recognition of his patient care.
He also authored research involving low back pain that was presented for consideration to the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics.
A Lifelong Background in Strength & Sports
Athletics have played a significant role in Dr. Chalifour's life and clinical career. He has spent decades involved in strength training and has experience both coaching and competing.
A former Alaska state powerlifting champion and competitive strongman, Dr. Chalifour understands firsthand the physical demands of training, competition, injury recovery, and maintaining an active lifestyle.
His advanced education has included training in sports injuries, soft-tissue therapy, rehabilitation, and extremity adjusting. He has also completed certification as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
This combination of chiropractic education, rehabilitation experience, and athletic background gives Dr. Chalifour a practical perspective when caring for athletes and active individuals-from youth and recreational athletes to experienced competitors.
His approach to patient care emphasizes careful evaluation, individualized treatment, and helping patients improve movement and function so they can return to the activities that are important to them.
Whether he is working with an athlete trying to return to competition, someone recovering from an injury, or a patient simply trying to move and feel better in everyday life, Dr. Chalifour believes good care starts with listening to the patient and understanding what they want to accomplish.
Outside the Office
Outside of practice, Dr. Chalifour's life revolves largely around his family, sports, fitness, and Alaska. He enjoys strength training, woodworking, spending time outdoors, and supporting his children in their athletic pursuits.
Having grown up in Anchorage and now raising his own family here, Dr. Chalifour is proud to care for people in the same community he has called home throughout his life.
