Arthritis
Arthritis Doesn't Have to Mean Giving Up the Life You Enjoy
Many people hear the word arthritis and assume pain is simply part of getting older. While arthritis is common, that doesn't mean you have to stop hiking, gardening, playing with your grandchildren, exercising, or enjoying the activities you love.
At Bilan Chiropractic, we can't reverse arthritis-but we can often help people move more comfortably by improving joint mobility, reducing muscle tension, and supporting healthier movement patterns.
Our goal isn't to change your age. It's to help you keep doing the things that matter to you.
Could Arthritis Be Causing Your Pain?
Arthritis affects everyone differently.Common symptoms include:
- Joint stiffness, especially in the morning
- Pain with movement
- Aching after activity
- Reduced flexibility
- Swelling around a joint
- Grinding or clicking during movement
- Difficulty getting up after sitting
What Is Arthritis?
Arthritis simply means inflammation or degeneration affecting a joint. The most common form is osteoarthritis, which develops as cartilage naturally changes over time. These changes can affect the spine, hips, knees, shoulders, hands, and many other joints.
Interestingly, X-rays don't always tell the whole story. Some people have significant arthritic changes with very little pain, while others have relatively mild changes but experience considerable stiffness and discomfort.
That's why we focus on how you move-not just what an image shows.
Movement Matters
When a joint becomes painful, it's natural to use it less.Unfortunately, less movement often leads to even more stiffness, weaker muscles, and greater difficulty performing everyday activities.
Our goal is to help you keep moving safely.
By improving joint mobility and reducing unnecessary stress on surrounding muscles, many people find daily activities become easier and more comfortable.

Why Patients Choose Bilan Chiropractic
Many people with arthritis have been told,"That's just part of getting older."
Sometimes that's true.
But many people also develop stiffness, muscle tension, and movement patterns that make arthritis feel worse than it needs to.
Our job is to help you move as well as possible for the joints you have, not the joints you wish you had.
That philosophy helps many patients stay active, independent, and confident.
Can chiropractic care cure arthritis?
A. No. Chiropractic care does not cure or reverse arthritis. It may help improve joint mobility, reduce muscle tension, and support comfortable movement for many patients.
Is it safe to receive chiropractic care if I have arthritis?
A. Often, yes. Treatment is always based on your examination findings, overall health, and the severity of your arthritis. We modify our techniques when appropriate.
Should I stop exercising if I have arthritis?
A. In many cases, staying active is one of the best things you can do. We'll recommend movements and activities that fit your condition and goals.
Will I need X-rays?
A. Not always. If previous imaging is available, we'll review it when appropriate. New imaging is recommended only when clinically indicated.
Can arthritis affect the spine?
A. Yes. Arthritis commonly affects the joints of the neck and lower back and may contribute to stiffness, reduced mobility, and pain.
